Indians finish in fifth at Lima


LIMA, Ohio — More than two dozen teams closed out their 2019 schedule Monday.

The Indians were among the best of them.

Fort Recovery High School’s girls swim team posted a fifth-place finish in a field of more than 25 teams at the Lima Holiday Meet. It scored 180 points to trail champion Ottawa-Glandorf (273), Celina (245), New Bremen (237) and Wapakoneta (216).

The Tribe boys finished 20th.

Ava Bubp powered Fort Recovery in its final meet before the new year, taking third place in the 500-yard freestyle in 6 minutes, 0.51 seconds. She was also fourth in the 200 freestyle in 2:11.81 and teamed with  Kyra Clark, Autumn Burk and Shelby Stammen for third in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:09.73.

Paige Fortkamp had the next best individual finish as she posted a time of 26.62 for sixth in the 50 freestyle. Clark was eighth in the 500 freestyle and ninth in the 100 backstroke, Burk placed ninth in the 100 butterfly and Audra Bubp was 10th in the 100 breaststroke.

The Indians were also seventh in both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

Michael Braun recorded the top result for the FRHS boys as he placed 11th in the 100 backstroke.
