Semi, truck collision
A Portland man’s vehicle collided with the rear of a semi truck Friday morning.
Randall W. LeMaster, 66, was driving his 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 west on Tyson Road approaching its intersection with Indiana 67. He told Jay County Sheriff’s Office that a semi truck stopped at the intersection began to move backward and struck the front end of his truck. Kenneth L. Jerome, 55, Elkhart, who was driving the 2009 Volkswagen semi, said he was stopped at the intersection when LeMaster hit the truck. Jerome said he did not reverse the truck and it would not have rolled backwards since it is an automatic.
The semi is registered to GLM Transport Inc., Berne.
Damage in the 8:47 a.m. collision is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
