Dealing
A Pennville man pleaded guilty in Jay Circuit Court to a drug dealing charge.
Dustin R. Fox, 29, 7311 N. 1050 West, pleaded guilty to dealing a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony. His sentencing is scheduled for March 12. As part of a plea agreement, charges of unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, and driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, will be dismissed.
In a separate Jay Superior Court case, a charge of driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, was dismissed.
Trial scheduled
A trial for a Portland man has been scheduled in Jay Circuit Court.
Blake M. Bennett, 23, 812 E. Walnut St., is charged with dealing cocaine, a Level 2 felony, dealing methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony, and possession of a narcotic drug, maintaining a common nuisance and unlawful possession of a syringe, Level 6 felonies. His two-day jury trial is scheduled to begin April 29.

A Portland woman pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to an intoxicated driving charge.
Kellie V. Howell, 26, 104 Silvers Lane, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to Jay County Jail for 18 months with all but 182 days suspended and given 68 days credit for 34 days served. The remaining time will be served on electronically monitored home detention. Howell was assessed court costs of $185.50, placed on formal probation for 12 months and ordered to pay an alcohol and drug countermeasures fee of $200 and a substance abuse program fee of $400. As part of a plea agreement, charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person less than 18 years old and neglect of a dependent, both Level 6 felonies, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, were dismissed. The court recommended that Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles suspend Howell’s license for one year beginning July 30, 2018.
