Dunkirk police are collecting shoes

Dunkirk Police Department is collecting shoes for children in need. 

Shoes can be donated through Aug. 1 at the police department, 130 S. Main St., Dunkirk City Building, 131 S. Main St. and CVS, 1130 S. Main St., Dunkirk.

The shoes will be donated to school children in the Dunkirk area in need of footwear.

Shows scheduled

Charles W. Brown Planetarium at Ball State University in Muncie will host free shows this summer.

The “One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure” program will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 12.

“Dawn of the Space Age” will be featured at 6:30 p.m. on the same date.

The programs “Astronaut” and “Moons: Worlds of Mystery” will be held at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., respectively, on July 26, and Aug. 2 and 9.

On exhibit

The Blackford County Center of Arts Place will hold its SummerFest Juried Art Show from July 22 through Sept. 6.

A reception is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. July 26, with awards at 6:30 p.m. The facility will host its SummerFest Arts Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 27. The event will include arts and crafts vendors, music, art activities for children and food.
