Support group has resources available to help

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

Here is an update on the work and effort of “A Better Life-Brianna’s Hope.” For those that don’t know, we are a participant driven, faith based, and compassion filled support and recovery group for those battling the battle with substance abuse. We originated in Redkey, but now have our home office in the Jay Community Center, Portland.

We began following the June 16, 2014 heroin related death of Brianna DeBattiste, Dunkirk. On November 5, we will be five years old. In that time, we have grown to 40 chapters in Indiana and Ohio, with a total attendance of more than 850. We have been blessed to share our “been there, done that and have the scars to prove it” stories with over 18,200 kindergarten through twelfth graders and staff. In our almost 5 years we have had over 450 individuals come to Christ or re-commit their lives to Him. We are also pleased to announce that we have sent, financially covered, over 750 strugglers going to treatment of different types and levels.

We have found it a privilege to share our story with civic groups, clubs, organizations, sororities, hospital boards, churches and at conferences and workshops throughout Indiana and Ohio.

The support and encouragement we have received has been beyond our hopes. Donations, meals, blankets, meeting locations, advertisement and more. This has helped us make east central Indiana, western Ohio and beyond aware of our desire to make a difference.

With all of that said we are presently in a very fortunate position. At this time, we have funds available to help strugglers get into treatment. We do have limits on cost, and we do have stipulations on how to qualify. If you or someone you know is “sick and tired of being sick and tired” of their battle with substance abuse, we invite you to contact our office.  Let’s talk, maybe we can help.

President
