Local notes

Optional practices are twice weekly

The East Jay Middle School cross country team will hold optional practices twice a week.

Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 9 a.m. at Hudson Family Park, 509 S. Wayne St., Portland.

Tournament is Saturday

The Swiss Days 3-on-3 basketball tournament is set for Saturday at South Adams Middle School.

Cost for each four-player team is $60, and the deadline to register is July 22.

The tournament is open to anyone in third grade or older.

Volleyball camp set

Jay County High School will hold its summer volleyball camp for kindergarten through eighth graders July 29 through Aug. 1.

The session for kindergarten through fifth graders will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. with sixth through eighth graders from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
