JCCT offers thanks for 'Newsies'

To the editor:

Extra! Extra!

Read all about it!

Our community is incredible.

Jay County Civic Theatre would like to take a moment to thank all of those from Jay County and beyond who took the time to come and see our production of Disney’s “Newsies.”

Over the course of our four-day run, we sold about 1,000 tickets. That includes a sellout crowd for the final performance Sunday afternoon. It was incredible to see the excitement on all of the faces of the performers backstage as they learned they would be performing in a theatre in which each and every seat was filled.

Thank you to The Commercial Review for being our major sponsor, which included printing all of the custom newspapers for the show as well as the programs.

Thank you also to the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, which provided funding to help us purchase a new projector to be used for scenery for the show. The sorority members also provided homemade cookies and punch for intermission refreshments and worked as ushers during each of our performances. The sorority has been a longtime supporter of Jay County Civic Theatre, and we truly appreciate all of its efforts.

Thank you also to our advertising sponsors — Strohl Appliance and Electronics, Buffalo Wings and Rings, Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Homes, FCC (Indiana), Scout Clean Energy and Cruise Planners.

And thank you to our costume sponsors. That list must be led by Progressive Office Products, which chipped in to sponsor not just one, but six different costumes. Also sponsoring costumes were Suits By Amy, Jack’s and Associates, Joelle Freiburger Attorney at Law, Dunn Family Dental, S&J Cleaning Services, Sunshine Boutique, Triple Taxi Service, Blessings Photography, Cricket Wireless, Celina Lynx, Hastings Auto, Jay County Visitors and Tourism Bureau, Portland Insurance, Display Craft, Neal and Diane Clune, The Twisted Gourd and Adams Physical Therapy.

Most of all, we’d like to thank our incredible members. This list ranges from director Jason McGraw, who has directed more shows than anyone in JCCT history, all the way to the long list of performers who were on stage for the first time with our organization. For this show, we had performers from Jay County, Hartford City, Albany, Berne, Winchester and Union City in Indiana, as well as Fort Recovery, Coldwater, St. Henry, Celina and Anna in Ohio. It is such a rewarding experience to see the Jay County Civic Theatre family continue to grow. Without all of you and the work you put in, such a production would not have been possible.

Thank you again to everyone involved, and we look forward to our next production — “Mamma Mia!” from Sept. 26 through 29 at Arts Place. Watch for updates at jaycountycivic.com or by following Jay County Civic Theatre on social media.
