Jay County Public Library will present “The Rope Warrior” on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Jay Community Center 115 E Water St.. This event is free and open to the public. 

The Rope Warrior will perform fun tricks and stunts that will entertain the whole family.



Learn to swim

Portland Water Park will offer swimming lessons for kids next week. 

Swimming lessons will run Monday through June 28 at the water park, 304 S. Hayes St. The classes will help children become comfortable in the water and introduce basic swimming skills. 

There are three times available for lessons: from 10 to 10:30 a.m., 10:35 to 11:05 a.m. and 11:10 to 11:40 a.m. 

Children must be at least three years old and must not be afraid of the water. The cost is $20 per child for the week.

Drive scheduled

The American Red Cross will have a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, July 22 at Fort Recovery American Legion Hall, 2490 Ohio 49. 



Graduates

Tiffany Krieg, Portland, recently graduated from IU Kokomo with a bachelor of science in medical imaging technology.



On the list 

Wright State University named students to the dean’s list for the spring semester. 

Fort Recovery students who achieved at least a 3.5 GPA for the semeseter were Ryan Braun, Danielle Brunswick, Abigail Fullenkamp, Michaela Fullenkamp, Grace Gehle, Emily Hart, Angela Heitkamp, Kristen Keller, Jodi Laux, Paige McCain, Mikayla Post, Michaela Siefring, Sarah Stammen, Patron Thobe, Kyle Timmerman and Juliette Wendel. 

Robert LeFevre and Reese Rogers of Fort Recovery were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Edison State Community College. 

Carley Stone, Fort Recovery, made the spring semester dean’s list at Ohio State University-Lima Campus. 



Free admission

From now until Labor Day, Minnetrista, in collaboration with Blue Star Museums, the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the

Department of Defense, will be offering free admission to active duty military personnel, including those serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members.

More than 2,000 museums in all states and Puerto Rico have already taken part in the initiative. The effort to recruit museums has involved partnerships with American Alliance of Museums, the Association of Art Museum Directors, the Association of Children’s Museums, the American Association of State and Local History, and the Association of Science-Technology Centers.

Those who qualify must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (department ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card to receive free admission.
