Mara Bader won twice. She set two records as well.
Bader lowered her own record time in one event and broke another on Friday for the Jay County middle school swim team as it hosted the Allen County Athletic Conference championships at Jay County High School.
Bluffton swept the team titles, scoring 487 points to take the boys’ championship and totaling 396 to win the girls’ title.
Jay County’s boys were runner-up with 309 points, and Adams Central scored 188 for third. South Adams came in fourth with 121 points.
The South Adams girls finished second with 330 points, and Jay County (300) was fourth.
Bader claimed the top spot in the 100-yard individual medley in 1 minute, 5.9 seconds, beating the time of 1:06.4 she set at last year’s meet. She also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.18 to beat Ashlyn Dow’s time from 2016 by four-hundredths of a second.
Morgan DeHoff had the only other win for the Jay County girls, taking the 100 freestyle in 1:06.27.
Delaney Dunnuck of South Adams was the lone individual Starfire victor as she touched the wall in 2:28.9 to take the 200 freestyle.
The SAMS quartet of Ava Kinsey, Maggie Nussbaum, Chloe Summersett and Dunnuck had a time of 3:23.37 to win the 300 freestyle relay.
Josh Monroe grabbed the top spot in the 100 IM (1:12.15) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.95) for Jay County’s boys, and Nick Lyons won the 100 backstroke (1:17.49).
Ralph Link, Wyatt Kunkler, Monroe and Lyons teamed to win the 200 medley relay in 2:16.53.
