Rear-ended
A Portland woman struck the rear of a truck with her car Monday in Portland.
Susan K. Quinn, 61, was driving her 2005 Pontiac Grand Am east on Votaw Street approaching its intersection with Meridian Street. She told Portland Police Department she didn’t see Kenneth J. Hemmelgarn’s 2013 Chevrolet Silverado in front of her. Hemmelgarn, 54, Portland, was stopped in traffic at the intersection.
Damage in the 3:58 p.m. collision is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Burglary
A Portland woman reported a theft from her home Monday.
Jasmin Seely, who lives in Oakwood MHC at 1237 N. U.S. 27, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office someone had forced open the door to her trailer and ransacked her home. Missing were five banks and two jewelry boxes.
Backing accident
A Monroe man backed the car he was driving into a parked vehicle Saturday night in the Jay Community Center parking lot.
Justin J. Wyatt, 25, was backing a 2006 Pontiac Montana out of a parking space at 115 E. Water St., Portland. He told Portland Police Department he didn’t see a car parked in the drive behind his vehicle and struck its front driver’s side with the rear of the Pontiac.
The Pontiac is registered to Bonnita K. Wyatt, Monroe. Information about the owner of the parked car, which was unoccupied, was not included in the report.
