The annual Arts Festival, the official launch to the Arts in the Parks program, is slated for noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. It will be held at Arts Park at the northwest corner of Harrison and Walnut streets and the surrounding area.

The event will include a variety of games and art activities, including catapult painting, T-shirt spray painting and pot spinning. Local artists will have work on display, and food will be available from area vendors.

Registration is currently open for Arts in the Park.

The program for children ages 6 through 12 offers classes in dance, theatre and art. Classes are offered in Portland, Dunkirk, Pennville, Montpelier, Berne, Hartford City, Fort Recovery and other locations in Mercer County.

Enroll quickly

Ivy Tech Community College will hold three express enrollment sessions at its Muncie campus, 4301 S. Cowan Road, in May.

Sessions are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 23 and 30. Students can receive help with applications, financial aid and scheduling.

Registration is currently open for the summer and fall semesters.



Visiting

Historian and performer Glory-June Greiff will portray Stratton-Porter from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Limberlost State Historic Site.

Greiff will tell the story of Stratton-Porter’s life, portraying her from about 1921. She will also read some of Stratton-Porter’s essays and poetry.

Admission to the event will be $4 for for members and $5 for non-members.



Offering education

Mercer Health and Community Sports and Therapy Center are offering a four-part educational series for student athletes, parents, coaches and trainers beginning June 5.

It will cover injury prevention, pre- and post-game nutrition, maximizing performance, and supplements and hydration. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays in June at Mercer County Community Hospital, with junior high athletes and younger at 6 p.m. and high school athletes and older at 7:15 p.m.
