Betty Ann Peterson, age 88, a former rural Dunkirk resident, passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare in Portland.
She was born April 3, 1931, in Michigan the daughter of Harry and Emaline (Hearn) Bowser. She retired from Jay Garment and had worked at Indiana Glass and Kerr Glass. She was involved in farming and day care.
She was a member of Pennville United Methodist Church, Richland Merry Mixers Home Ec Club and Jay County Hospital Auxiliary. She was a 1950 Portland High School graduate.
Surviving are two sons, Alan Peterson (wife: Becky) of Dunkirk and Stanley Peterson (wife: Sheila) of Beech Grove, Tennessee; one daughter, Anita Childers of Dunkirk; one sister, Barbara Barton of Portland; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Bowser and Donald Bowser; grandson Douglas Robinette; and son-in-law Tom Childers.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, at 7 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Hospital Auxiliary.
