Michael Chittum
July 4, 1954-Nov. 16, 2019
Michael Eugene Chittum, age 65, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away suddenly Saturday afternoon.
He graduated from Redkey High School in 1972; attended Indiana State; completed his bachelor’s degree from Ball State University; attended MIT in Boston; and earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering from University of Phoenix. He loved learning and never stopped continuing his education. He was an avid reader, enjoyed boating and traveling.
He worked as an engineer for Life Line in Boston and was currently working for Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Tennessee.
Michael was the son of Max and June Chittum-Lucas.
Michael is survived by his mother, June Lucas; two sisters, Judith (husband: Jeff) Hammers and Vivian (husband: David) Champ; a son, Andrew (wife: Jennifer) Chittum; a daughter, Laurelin (husband: Craig) Henderson; five grandchildren, Alexah, Isabella, Asher, Jasper and Clara; and several nieces and nephews.
Michael was proceeded in death by his father, Max Chittum.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, Dec 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. with a service at 4 p.m. at the Christian Church in Redkey. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey.
Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
