One hurt

A Portland woman was treated for injuries at the scene of an accident about 10:05 p.m. Monday.

Marsi K. Ashman Dow, 48, told Portland police she was turning south onto Meridian Street from Water Street and failed to see a semi parked on the west side of Meridian Street.

Her 2007 Hyundai Entourage struck the parked 2019 Volvo registered to Delta Carriers, Indianapolis.

Damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.



Tires slashed

Portland police received a reported about 9:40 p.m. Monday that tires on a car belonging to William Harriford, who lives in the west 200 block of Lincoln Street, had been slashed.



Misses deer

A car driven by a rural Portland woman struck a culvert on county road 400 South near county road 200 West about 7:30 a.m. Monday when she swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway.

Katelyn R. Harris, 18, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was westbound on county road 400 South when the deer ran into the roadway in front of her 2013 Toyota. When she swerved, the car went off the south side of the road into a ditch and struck the culvert.

Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
