Last week at Adams Central: South Adams scored 21 points in the second quarter of a 42-14 rout of county rival Adams Central to snap a five-game losing streak to the Jets. James Arnold set a new school record with 471 passing yards and accounted for all but one of the Starfires’ six touchdowns.
Season leaders: Passing — James Arnold – 75-of-121 for 1,458 yards, 21 touchdowns and two interceptions. Rushing — Nic Stuber – 38 carries for 418 yards and six touchdowns. Receiving — Drew Stutzman – 24 catches for 541 yards and 10 touchdowns. Defense — Grady Sprunger – 43 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and one sack.
Last season: Jay County had a key third-down conversion to seal a 15-14 victory against the Starfires in front of a homecoming crowd. Michael Schlechty and Trey Castillo had rushing scores for Jay County, while Drake Deitsch and Christian Summersett found the end zone for South Adams. Jay County also recorded a safety in the win.
Game notes: This is the 11th meeting between Jay County and South Adams with the Patriots holding a 7-3 edge in the series, including three of the last four games.
