MUNCIE — The Patriots ended the regular season in a big way.
Anhely Montes scored three times and two others had a pair of goals Thursday as the Jay County High School girls soccer team routed the Muncie Central Bearcats, 9-0.
The Patriots enter Tuesday’s sectional opener against Hamilton Heights at New Castle with a 9-5 record.
It was the second career hat trick for Montes, who last accomplished the feat Sept. 25, 2018, in a 6-1 win against Blackford. It was also the second multi-goal game of the year for the JCHS senior.
Freshmen Mara Bader and Gabi Bilbrey both tallied a pair of scores. Bader’s effort was the second time she’s had two goals, and Bilbrey had multiple marks for the fifth time this season. She now has a team-best 15 goals.
Cheyenne Liette, a senior, tallied her first goal of the season, and Payton McCoy also found the back of the net.
Bilbrey added three assists and Montes had one helper. Tricia Ison turned away three shots in earning back-to-back shutouts.
