A blood drive in honor of a former Portland resident is scheduled for the end of the month.
Friends and family of Rachel Osterholt Theurer will host the American Red Cross blood drive in her memory from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at Jay Community Center.
Osterholt died after suffering at amniotic fluid embolism during childbirth on Nov. 1, 2015. She received 27 units of red blood cells, 12 units of plasma and three units of platelets in the effort to save her life.
Thus far, 314 donations have been made in her honor. To make an appointment to donate, visit redcrossblood.org or call (800) 733-2767.
