Dealing
A Dunkirk man was sentenced to prison for dealing methamphetamine.
Alex L. Blankenship, 24, 407 E. Washington St., pleaded guilty in Jay Circuit Court to dealing methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony. He was sentenced to three years in the Indiana Department of Correction and was given credit for time served from March 29 to June 13. Upon successful completion of a substance abuse treatment program, the court will consider modifying the sentence. Blankenship was assessed court costs of $185 and ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200. An additional charge of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

A man was sentenced in Jay Circuit Court for a drug possession charge.
Matthew R. Schlechty, 37, whose last known address was in Portland, pleaded guilty on Sept. 30 to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony. He was recently sentenced to three years in the Indiana Department of Correction and given credit for time served from July 20. He was assessed court costs of $185 and was ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, was dismissed. The court will consider modifying the sentence if Schlechty completes a substance abuse treatment program.

A Yorktown man was sentenced to prison for a drug possession charge.
Ronald P. Massie, 47, 1605 Oakdale Drive, pleaded guilty on Sept. 25 in Jay Circuit Court to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony. He was sentenced to three years in the Indiana Department of Correction and was given credit for time served from July 2. He was assessed court costs of $185 and ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200.

An Anderson man pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to a drug possession charge.
Kyle T. Cyphers, 33, 4940 E. County Road 67, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 90 days suspended and was given two days credit for one day served. The remaining time will be served on weekends. He was assessed court costs of $185, placed on formal probation for 307 days and ordered to pay a substance abuse treatment program of $400 and a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200. Charges of theft, a Level 6 felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Theft, violation
A Portland man was sentenced in Jay Superior Court for a theft charge and for violating his probation.
Donald J. Weesner, 22, who is currently incarcerated in the Indiana Department of Correction, pleaded guilty to theft, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to the DOC for 242 days and given 50 days credit for 25 days served. He was assessed court costs of $185.
In a separate case, Weesner was found in violation of his probation on the original charge of theft, a Level 6 felony. He was ordered to serve an additional 242 days of the sentence imposed on Oct. 26, 2017, consecutive to the previous charge. His probation will be terminated unsuccessfully upon his release from the DOC.

An Ohio man pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to possession of cocaine, a Level 6 felony.
Shane W. Miller, 20, 9686 Gibralter Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio, was sentenced to 365 days in Jay County Jail with all but 30 days suspended and given eight days credit for four days served. He was assessed court costs of $185, placed on formal probation for 335 days and ordered to pay a substance abuse program fee of $400 and an alcohol and drug countermeasures fee of $200. A charge of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

An Ohio man was sentenced in Jay Superior Court for a drug possession charge.
Rickie L. Hess Jr., 45, 1779 Ohio 571, Greenville, Ohio, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to 18 months in Jay County Jail with all but 150 days suspended and given 116 days credit for 58 days served. He was placed on formal probation for 397 days, assessed court costs of $185 and ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 and a substance abuse program fee of $400. A charge of unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
