Patriot girls 2nd at Oak Hill
Freshman Lydia Keihn places third in leading Jay County to best finish of the year
CONVERSE — Three Patriots finished in the top seven.
A freshman led the way. Two were back-to-back.
Jay County High School’s girls cross country team had its best overall finish of the season Tuesday as it took second place in the Oak Hill Invitational.
Leo scored 28 points to win the championship, and Jay County totaled 64. Alexandria-Monroe was third out of nine teams with 118 points.
Jay County’s boys squad had 135 points for fifth place. The host Golden Eagles had 24 points to win the 11-team meet. Carroll (109) and Blackford (120) were second and third respectively.
Freshman Lydia Keihn was the top JCHS girl as she crossed the finish line in 21 minutes, 28 seconds, for third place. Raven Weaver (22:00.5) was sixth, and Sophie Fugiett (22:02.4) placed seventh.
Lindy Wood had a time of 22:44.3 for 12th, and Lita Chowning was 42nd in 26:43.
Aaron Funkhouser was 23rd for the JCHS boys in 19:51.9. Thomas LeMaster (20:22.4), Mitchell Winner (20:24.5) and Ethan Andreshak (20:25.8) were 29th, 30th and 31st respectively. Ben Hunger’s time of 20:40.8 earned him 39th place.
