Portland man found dead
Jackson’s body was located in southwest area of Loblolly preserve
A Portland man who had been missing since Sunday was found dead Wednesday.
The body of Christopher S. Jackson, 36, was found at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday.
Jay County coroner Michael Brewster said Jackson was found in the southwest area of Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve, which is located on county road 250 West, north of Indiana 18.
The cause of death has not been determined.
Jay County Sheriff Dwane Ford said foul play was not suspected. An autopsy is not planned, Brewster said, though one could be done if requested by Jackson’s family.
Jackson’s abandoned vehicle was found about 2 p.m. Sunday at the nature preserve, said Jay County Sheriff Dwane Ford. Police. Emergency responders and volunteers began searching for Jackson at the nature preserve about 8 a.m. Tuesday with drones, a helicopter and cadaver dogs.
The search continued into the evening and resumed Wednesday morning.
