Search on for missing person
Jackson is thought to be in area of Loblolly preserve
Police are searching for a Portland man who has been missing since Sunday.
Jay County Sheriff’s Office continued its search for Christopher S. Jackson, 36, this morning.
Jackson’s abandoned vehicle was found about 2 p.m. Sunday at Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve, said Jay County Sheriff Dwane Ford. The preserve is located on county road 250 West, north of Indiana 18.
Police, emergency responders and volunteers began searching for Jackson in the area of the nature preserve about 8 a.m. Tuesday, Ford said, and continued into the evening. Jackson’s family searched until dark.
Tuesday’s search of the wetland area included drones, a helicopter and cadaver dogs, Ford said. Drones will continue to be used in today’s search.
The sheriff’s office about 9 a.m. today published a post on its Facebook feed asking for anyone willing to volunteer in the search to report to the Loblolly preserve.
