Vision impaired

An Ossian woman’s vision was impaired by the sun while driving on county road 300 North, causing her to drive off the road about 8:10 a.m. Thursday.

Christina M. Felger, 32, was driving east on the road near county road 550 West when glare from the sunlight impaired her vision according to a Jay County Sheriff’s Department report. As her 2009 Dodge Caravan left the road, it struck the side of a concrete bridge. Damage is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.



Deer hit

A Portland man drove into a deer on U.S. 27 about 6 p.m. Thursday.

Johnathan T. Prescott, 38, was driving south on the highway when a deer ran into the roadway. He couldn’t stop his 2005 Ford F150 before hitting the animal. Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.



Mailbox collision

A Geneva man drove into a Bryant woman’s vehicle stopped at a mailbox on county road 350 East about 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

Dustin J. Ehr, 32, was driving his 2006 Dodge Stratus south on county road 350 East when he drove into a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox with Peggy R. Scott, 62, at the wheel.

Scott was transported to IU Health Jay for a head scrape, according to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report. Damage is estimated between $25,000 and $50,000. Both vehicles were towed.
