One Ball State University individual finished in the top three Saturday at Notre Dame.

It was a former Patriot.

Alex Bader, a 2018 Jay County High School graduate, placed third in the 100-yard backstroke for the Cardinals as they battled against Indiana, Michigan State and the host Fighting Irish.

Bader earned the No. 3 spot in her signature event with a time of 1 minute, 4.94 seconds. She trailed Erin Szara, Michigan State’s swimmer of the year last season, and Elizabeth Fry of Notre Dame.

The sophomore was also 11th in the 100 butterfly in 59.55 and teamed with her cousin Anne Vormohr, a 2016 JCHS graduate, Apsara Sakbun and Peighton Gilbert for second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:36.59.

Sophie Bader, Alex’s sister and a 2016 Jay County graduate, was sixth in the 200 individual medley in 2:11.69. She added a seventh-place effort in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:08.23.

Vormohr posted times of 24.76 in the 50 freestyle for 11th place and 53.97 in the 100 freestyle for 12th.

Jay County – 2018
Led the Anderson University women’s basketball team in rebounds Saturday as it knocked off Earlham 56-51.

Ault hauled in eight rebounds to lead the Ravens (8-12) to a 35-28 advantage on the glass. She also had three assists, two steals and two points.

The sophomore also totaled six points, four rebounds and two assists in Wednesday’s 48-44 loss to Rose-Hulman.

Kendal Garringer
Jay County – 2019
Turned in a pair of top-10 finishes for the Manchester University women’s track team at Saturday’s Ohio Northern University Joe Banks Invitational.

Garringer’s top effort was in the triple jump as she placed sixth at 28 feet, 7.75 inches. She also finished in a six-way tie for ninth place in the high jump at 4 feet, 9 inches.

Micaiah Cox
FRHS – 2017
Came off the bench for the Defiance College men’s basketball team Wednesday in its 84-77 loss to Manchester.

Cox scored four points for the Yellowjackets, who slipped to 10-10. He also had a pair of assists.

Robby LeFevre
FRHS – 2019
Competed in a pair of events for the Fordham University men’s track team at the Metropolitan Championship on Friday at Ocean Breeze Athletic

Complex on Staten Island in New York.

LeFevre posted a time of 7.21 seconds to place 18th out of 36 competitors in the 60-meter dash.

He was also 20th in the 200 dash in 23 seconds flat.

Whitney Will
FRHS – 2017

Played for the NAIA No. 11 University of St. Francis women’s basketball team in Wednesday’s 57-33 loss to Indiana Wesleyan.

Will had three rebounds, one block, one assist and one point for the Cougars (29-5). She also had two points, two rebounds and a steal in Saturday’s 65-41 victory over Goshen.
