Lyons earns a pair of wins

Nick Lyons picked up a pair of individual victories Monday as the Jay County middle school swim team split a meet with the Delta Eagles.
The Jay County girls won 159-140, and the boys fell 147-127.
Lyons took first in the 100-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke. He also joined Joseph Dow, Creed Beiswanger and Cohen Henry for a victory in the 300 freestyle relay.
Maddy Snow (diving) and Kenzie Huey (100 backstroke) also won their respective events.
Morgan DeHoff (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle), Lauren Fisher (100 individual medley, 50 butterfly), Dow (200 freestyle, 400 freestyle) and Henry (50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) had a pair of runner-up finishes. Also taking second were Aubrey Millspaugh (200 freestyle), Timo Minnich (100 IM), Zion Beiswanger (400 freestyle), Rihanna Hartman (100 backstroke), David Keen (100 backstroke) and Creed Beiswanger (50 butterfly).

Chiefs sweep dual
MONROEVILLE — East Jay Middle School’s wrestling team dominated Southern Wells and forfeited its way past host Heritage in a double dual Monday.
The Chiefs beat Southern Wells 70-21, and topped Heritage 81-18.
Landon Garringer and Ricky Nava got two pins in going 2-0 on the day, and Cameron Clark received a couple forfeits.
Silas Wenk, Cody Rowles, Tony Wood, Landon Blowers, Carter Barton, Mallory Winner, AJ Myers, Tristan Stout and Bryce Wenk were all 2-0 on the day as well.

WJMS A wins
UNION CITY — The West Jay Middle School sixth grade boys basketball A team edged Union City for a 34-30 victory Monday.
The B team lost 7-5.
Carter Fugiett scored a dozen points for the A team, which pushed over .500 at 4-3. Malachi Hernandez had seven points and Brasen Glassford added six.
Glassford also had three points in the B team’s game.
