A Portland woman had a felony charge lowered to a misdemeanor after pleading guilty to maintaining a common nuisance.
Angela M. Newland, 45, 1350 Meadow Lane, had a Level 6 felony lowered to a Class A misdemeanor as part of her plea agreement. In addition charges of possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, were dismissed.
Newland was sentenced to one year in jail with all but 30 days suspended and given two days credit for one day served. The remainder of her sentence was ordered to be served on electronically monitored home detention.
She was also placed on probation for 11 months and assessed court costs of $185.
DWS
Paul A. Wimmer, 39, 349 E. Bryce St., Montpelier, was sentenced to 60 days in Jay County Jail after pleading guilty to driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor.
He was given two days credit for one day served and assessed court costs of $185.50.
Possession
A Portland woman pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
Samantha K. Howard, 24, 824 E. Water St., was sentenced to 60 days in jail with all but eight days suspended with the rest of her sentence to be served on weekends.
She was placed on probation for six months, assessed court costs $185 and ordered to pay $400 for a substance abuse program and $200 in drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fees.
Leaving the scene
Jessica L. Hunt, 34, whose last known address was in Winchester, pleading guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor. As part of her plea agreement, her charge was lowered from a Class A misdemeanor.
Hunt was sentenced to jail for 180 days with all but two days suspended and given two days credit for one day served. She was placed on probation for six months and assessed court costs of $185.50.
