MACONAQUAH — Two Patriots are heading to state. One will be there as a regional champion.
Jay County High School’s Lizzie Dollar won the Indiana High School Girls Wrestling 98-pound regional championship Friday at Maconaquah.
Dollar was dominant all night, winning all three of her matches by pin. The last of those, over Eastyn Egts of Homestead, came just 16 seconds before the final buzzer.
Lita Chowning (113) also advanced to the state finals with a third-place finish. She won a pair of matches before falling in the semifinal round and then took the third-place spot by an injury default.

FORT?RECOVERY?— The Fort Recovery boys basketball team rallied to force overtime only to fall 53-47 Friday to the Division IV?No. 6 St. John’s Blue Jays.
The Indians (7-3, 1-3 Midwest Athletic Conference), who finished 18th in this week’s Division IV?poll voting, trailed by 10 at halftime. Their deficit was still seven at the end of the third quarter before they rallied behind Grant Knpke and Regan Martin to pull even at the end of regulation.
But FRHS managed just three overtime points as the Blue Jays (9-0, 3-0 MAC) kept their perfect record intact.
Clay Schmitz and Martin each had 13 points for the Tribe. Ryne Post and Knapke tallied seven apiece.
Louck is 7th
Jay County High School’s swim teams picked up a few points in diving Friday night in the Jay County Invitational.
Rachel Louck led the way as she placed seventh for the girls team with 206.9 points. Vivian Niekamp of New Bremen won with 367.85.
Justice Murphy was 11th for the Patriot boys with 173.15 points. Celina’s Holden Cubberly won with 375.95.
Louck and Murphy earned 12 and six points, respectively, for the JCHS teams. Competition in the invitational continues with swimming events beginning at 10 a.m. today.
