Collision
Two cars collided while both drivers were trying to turn at the intersection of county road 200 West and Tyson Road just east of Indiana 67 at 7:43 a.m. Friday near Portland.
Kaitlyn N. Gillette, 23, Havelock, North Carolina, turned the car she was driving east onto Tyson Road from Indiana 67 at the same time Lee E. Mock, 26, Portland, was attempting to turn the car he was driving south onto county road 200 West.
Neither driver saw the other was turning their cars, resulting in the crash that cost an estimated $1,000 to $2,500.
Gillette was driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler registered to Sean A. Winget, Dunkirk. Mock was driving a 2015 Ford F350 registered to Jay Petroleum, Inc.
Fender bender
A Portland woman backed her car into the car behind her in the road leading out of Richards Restaurant to U.S. 27 at 10:44 a.m. Friday in Portland.
Mary A. Adair, 56, and Eric J. Serjern, 43, Portland, were both in cars waiting to turn onto U.S. 27. Adair backed the car she was driving into Serjern’s vehicle, resulting in an estimated $2,500 to $5,000 in damage.
Adair was driving a 2013 Chevy Malibu registered to Linda A. Adair, and Serjern was driving his 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
