Minnich project tops permit list


Permits for nearly $19 million in new construction were issued in the final quarter of 2019 by the Jay/Portland Building and Planning Department.

Nearly $16 million of that total involved just one project, the planned construction of one to 12 chicken layer confined feeding buildings by Minnich Poultry LLC Farm No. 3 at 8563 E. 300 North. That project’s estimated construction cost is $15,390,000.

Other permits issued in the period from October through December went First Merchants Bank for a $50,000 drive-thru building addition at 112 W. Main St., Portland; Greazy Pickle LLC for a $1,000 bathroom remodeling at 211 W. Main St., Portland; Alvin Rose for a $6,000 storage building at 246 N. Charles St., Portland; Adolfo Solis for a $700 storage building addition at 827 E. Main St., Portland; Mike Wallace for a $120,000 storage building at 2806 S. Southtown Place, Portland; Larry Beeks II for a $2,200 fence at 145 N. Union St., Pennville; Kevin Inman for a $5,000 pond at 1460 W.
