Trial will reveal values

To the editor:

In the coming days and weeks, we (the people) will witness history unfold before our collective eyes.

What we will witness will, no doubt, be polemical and divisive (imagine that).

The pros and cons of the impeachment trial, like the articles of impeachment themselves, are bound to be contentious as well as a challenge to perspicuity.

I have yet to hear the cons (no pun intended) argue why and when it is acceptable for the president to solicit help from a foreign government with respect to our elections in order to benefit said president.

Like Yogi Berra said, “Its deja-vu all over again.”

The truth has no need for secrets, but mendacity and deception demands them. The body politic will see in the coming days which we value most … the truth or secrets.
