Median collision
Two vehicles made contact after their drivers were unable to avoid sideswiping one another in the center of county road 300 South at 6:50 a.m. Monday.
Stanley E. Wittwer, 77, Bryant, was westbound and Rosby Mendoza, 23, Portland, was eastbound when their vehicles made contact in the middle of the road.
According to an accident report filed by Jay County Sheriff’s Office, it was not immediately apparent which driver was at fault.
Wittwer was driving his 1997 Chevy Van and Mendoza was driving her 2010 Saturn Outlook. Both vehicles had to be towed away from the scene. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Parking lot accident
Two Portland residents failed to see they were backing their vehicles into one another in the parking lot of Bollenbacher & Associates at 915 N. Meridian St. at 3:26 p.m. Monday in Portland.
Tina M. Fisher, 51, and Lisa E. Vogler, 58, were involved in the accident. Fisher was driving her 2002 Ford Expedition and Vogler was driving a 2012 Buick Lacrosse registered to Peter J. Vogler, Portland. Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Deer hit
A Portland man was unable to avoid hitting a deer with his vehicle on county road 650 South near U.S. 27 at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Tyler G. Hartzell, 30, was driving his 2008 Ford F150. Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
