Local notes

Two dates to register

Portland Junior League will have two registration sessions for the upcoming season.

Each session will be from 9 a.m. to noon March 7 and 14 at Jay Community Center, 115 E. Water St., Portland.

Registration forms can be picked up at each school office or at JCC.

Portland Junior League offers both baseball and softball, and is open for boys and girls aged 5 to 15.



Free clinic offered Tuesday

The Jay County High School baseball program will be offering a free youth coaching clinic.

The session will be from 6 to 8 p.m. March 10 in the JCHS gym (enter through Door No. 11). Make up date is set for March 12.

The clinic is open for all youth coaches and parents. Throwing programs, hitting, fielding, pitching and practice planning will all be covered.

All drills will be focused on youth-aged players so coaches can implement them in practice and prior to games. For more information, contact JCHS baseball coach Lea Selvey at (260) 726-9306.



Tryout set for Monday

Tryouts for Jay County middle school baseball will be Monday.

The session is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will be at Jay County High School.
