Vintage motor bike meet is canceled
Event was set for July 29 through Aug. 2 at Jay County Fairgrounds
Cross the motor bikes off the calendar.
Vintage Motor Bike Club announced via its website Wednesday its 48th annual meet at Jay County Fairgrounds has been canceled.
“After much deliberation, and at the recommendation of the Health Department, the 2020 meet has been cancelled!” read the brief announcement on vintagemotorbikeclub.org.
The event, which typically draws thousands of visitors, was scheduled for July 29 through Aug. 2 at the fairgrounds. Members of the club were allowed to begin arriving July 26.
The club’s banquet, which had been set for Aug. 1 during the show, had already been canceled because of the pandemic.
Members had previously been asked not to send any payments for camping or the banquet until a decision had been made about the event.
Vintage Motor Bike Club’s annual meet joins the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association’s May Swap and Sell Meet, multiple demolition derbies and a June 20 concert among the fairgrounds events canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Jay County Fair Board on Wednesday announced that it would shorten the Jay County Fair to four days from the scheduled nine. The Jay County 4-H Fair is slated to move forward with a “show-and-go” format.
