Distracted driving
A Mooreland man drove into the back of a truck he failed to see was attempting to turn left because he was on his phone on Indiana 67 at its intersection with county road 550 East at 4:49 p.m. Thursday.
According to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report, Robert K. Painter, 24, was attempting to set a GPS destination on his phone when he drove into the back of a truck being driven by Isaac D. Jones, 54, Bryant. Jones was attempting to turn left from the highway to county road 550 East.
Painter was driving his 2014 Chevy and Jones was driving his 2012 Ford F150.
Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
