Another partnership has been formed.

Ardagh Group announced Thursday that it is partnering with Parkway Brewing Company to manufacture its glass bottles.

Ardagh, which operates glass manufacturing facilities in Dunkirk and Winchester, will make 12-ounce bottles for the Virginia brewery.

“Parkway Brewing Company’s passion for supplying quality and consistency in their beer aligns perfectly with Ardagh’s dedication to manufacturing high-quality glass packaging,” said Ardagh chief commercial officer John T Shaddox in a press realse. “Ardagh enjoys working with craft breweries to achieve their sustainability targets by supplying eco-friendly glass bottles.”

Parkway produces more than 7,000 barrels per year and is known for traditional beats like Get Bent Mountain India Pale Ale.

“Parkway Brewing believes that glass bottles are timeless,” said Parkway general manager/brewmaster Mike Pensinger. “While we do can some of our beers, we have always put our flagship beers in bottles and don’t plan to stop anytime soon.”



Retiring, promoted

Kathy Mescher has announced her retirement as director of Our Home Family Resource Center in Celina, Ohio. Kevin Draiss will take over her role beginning Dec. 1.

Mescher has served as director for 10 years.

Draiss, a Celina resident, has previously worked as an office administrator, police officer and probation officer. He has been working with Mescher to make the transition to his new role.



Practitioner hired

Adams Memorial Group Behavioral Health has hired Beth Kaskel as its new nurse practitioner.

Kaskel earned her bachelor’s degree from Marietta College in Ohio. She went on to earn her master’s and doctorate degrees from Case Western Reserve University, also in Ohio. She completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in gerontological nursing studying caregiver stress/strain.



Lutheran hires

Lutheran Health Physicians this week announced the hiring of six new health care providers.

Physicians joining Lutheran in Fort Wayne are:

•Caitlin Adams, a primary care nurse practitioner at Family Medicine in Fort Wayne.

•Jordan Goodwin, a certified physician assistant with Lutheran’s cardiovascular and thoracic surgery team.

•Christopher Gullet, a cardiothoracic surgeon.

•Tyler Warnecke, a physician assistant who is part of a the neurointerventional surgery team.

Lutheran also added nurse practitioners at its Syracuse and North Manchester locations.



New program

Walgreens on Thursday announced the start of myWalgreens, revamping its customer loyalty program.

Walgreens customers will be able to shop on a redesigned mobile app and then pick up their orders in the store, at the curb or at the drive-thru. They will also receive 1% Walgreens Cash on all purchases and 5% on Walgreens branded products.

The Walgreens app will also feature a pharmacy chat, the ability to book vaccination appointments, health and wellness advice and other features.

“As America’s community pharmacy, Walgreens is delivering an unparalleled experience to help customers and patients manage their health and wellbeing during the most severe health crisis of our lifetimes,” said Walgreens president John Standley in a press release.



Subway launches

Subway has launched contactless curbside pick-up at participating restaurants nationwide.

Subway, which launched contactless pick-up this summer, now offers the service at more than 11,000 of its sites. Customers can order through the Subway app or website, park in the assigned spot upon arriving at the restaurant and have their sandwich brought directly to their vehicle.



CVS accepting

CVS announced Monday that it is now accepting payments through PayPal and Venmo QR codes at 8,200 retail locations.

By scanning the codes, customers will be able to pay for items in a touch-free format. The partnerships were first announced in July.

“Putting our customer’s safety at the forefront of our innovations, we’ve focused resources on finding new ways to make customers’ lives easier and more convenient,” said CVS Health executive vice president and chief operating officer Jon Roberts in a press release. “Introducing more digital options, including touch-free payments at the register, is in step with changing consumer preferences.”



DG announces

Dollar General on Tuesday announced plans to award an additional $50 million in bonuses to eligible frontline employees in the fourth quarter of 2020.

That plan doubles the amount that was planned for the third and fourth quarters combined. The company had announced in August that id distributed about $75 million in the first two quarters of the year and had plans to give $50 million in the third and fourth quarters.

“To demonstrate our ongoing gratitude and support for our employees directly serving our customers and communities during this pandemic, we are proud to double our initial plans for second-half bonuses by awarding an approximately additional $50 million to our frontline team members,” said Dollar General CEO Todd Vasos in a press release.



Initiative begins

Walmart and North Carolina A&T State University announced Thursday that they are teaming up to start the Equity in Education Initiative.

The new program will focus on increasing the number of African American college graduates securing careers in business, engineering and other designated professions. Walmart is making a $5 million investment to focus on the areas of Black male achievement, leadership, engineering and scholarship support.

“The Equity in Education Initiative is not only an important step in advancing Walmart’s focus on eliminating barriers to opportunity, it also lays foundational building blocks with a diverse pool of talent who we hope will one day consider joining the Walmart team,” said Donna Morris, Walmart’s executive vice president and chief people officer, in a press release.



Gexa achieves

Gexa Energy announced Monday that it has reached its goal of shifting all of its residential plans to 100% renewable energy.

Gexa, whose parent company NextEra Energy Resources owns and operates Bluff Point Wind Energy Center in Jay and Randolph counties, is an electricity provider in Texas. Its shift to renewable energy announced this week covers more than 200,000 customers.

“Renewable energy truly is our future,” said Gexa president Brian Landrum said in a press release. “Renewable energy is good for customers and the environment, and increasingly, the economics of renewable energy make it good for business, too. It’s a win all around, and we’ve got big plans for the state of Texas.”
