MONROE — Two Patriot girls earned conference accolades.

A third just missed joining them.

Lydia Keihn and Lindy Wood earned second-team all-conference honors Saturday as the Jay County High School girls cross country team placed fifth in the Allen County Athletic Conference championships at Adams Central.

Woodlan scored 58 points to win the title. South Adams was the runner-up with 64 points, two points ahead of the host Jets. The Patriots had 111 points for fifth.

Heritage won the boys title with 43 points. Bluffton scored 62 points to finish second, and Woodlan had 75 points for third. Jay County totaled 152 points for last out of seven teams.

Keihn, a sophomore, ended her race in 21 minutes, 46.1 seconds, to place 11th overall. Lindy Wood (22:22.3) finished 14th, as both were named All-ACAC second team. The top seven runners are named to the first team, while those placing seventh through 14th are named to the second team.

Sophia Fugiett had a time of 22:36.3 to finish 15th.

Makayla Brainerd (26:02.9) was 38th and Lita Chowning (26.03.5) was 39th.

Lydia Dyer of Woodlan was the overall champion in 19:54.7.

Mitchell Winner was the top JCHS boy as he finished 11th in 18:52 to make second team All-ACAC.

Seth Wilson had a time of 20:12 for 31st, while Aaron Funkhouser (20:32.6) and Logan Zimmerman (20:37.8) were 36th and 37th, respectively.

Isaac Kunkler completed the team score by finishing 40th in 21:00.5

Also running for the JCHS boys were Dustin Harris (42nd), Ben Hunter (45th), Sebastian Solis (46th), Griffin Lennartz (53rd), Timo Minnich (57th) and Kyle Theurer (59th).

Clancy McIntire of South Adams had a time of 17:48.5 to take the overall championship.

Girls making All-ACAC first team were: Leslie Sprinkles (Bluffton), Abby Gentz (Woodlan), McKenzie Sturwold (South Adams), Sydney McFarren (Southern Wells), Mae Emenhiser (Woodlan) and Marissa Van De Weg (Adams Central). Other second-team honorees were: Elayna Kitt (Bluffton), Megan Miller (South Adams), Nia Litwiller (South Adams), Olivia Reynolds (Adams Central) and Gabi Landis (Adams Central).

Boys first team All-ACAC members included Ethan Hoffman (Heritage), Jaxon Hoting (Heritage), Markis Crosbie (Bluffton), Gavin Dinius (Heritage), Race Anderson (South Adams) and Austin Harris (Southern Wells). Second team members were Joshua Bricker (Southern Wells), Tyler Godwin (Bluffton), Nate Lockridge (Woodlan), Carter Hohenbrink (Woodlan), Sam Baumgartner (Bluffton) and Max Moore (Woodlan).

Junior high

The Jay County Junior High School girls cross country team had three place in the top 10 as it was the runner-up to the South Adams Starfires.

South Adams scored 41 points to claim the title, and Jay County was 20 points behind. Adams Central finished with 74 points for third.

South Adams also won the boys championship with 41 points. Bluffton scored 68 for second, edging Adams Central by the sixth-runner tiebreaker. Jay County had 85 points for fourth.

Alexis Sibray had a time of 12 minutes, 44 seconds, to take fourth overall in the girls’ race, and Ayla Grabner was sixth in 12:53. Emily Manor placed seventh with her time of 12:56, and Emily Young ended 20th in 13:45. Paityn Wendel (13:50) completed the team score by finishing 24th.

Joseph Boggs of Jay County was third with his time of 11:12, and Creed Beiswanger took sixth in 11:43. Gabe Pinkerton had a time of 12:14 for 12th, and Jacob Monroe crossed the finish line in 13:29 for 29th. Max Klopfenstein was 35th in 14:14 to complete the Patriots’ team score.

Also running for the Jay County girls were Faith Faulkner (28th), Lucy Raines (41st), Aubrey Millspaugh (43rd), Lina Lingo (45th), Dakota Chowning (48th), Rianna Hartman (54th) and Emma Hatzell (55th). For the boys were Jacob Kellog (39th), William Hawbaker (42nd), Lukes Power (43rd) and David Keen (47th).
