The Patriots have a full schedule.
Four days after learning its week nine game was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Jay County High School football team picked up a road game against the Benjamin Logan Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Benjamin Logan, located at 6609 Ohio 47 in rural Bellefontaine, Ohio, is the lone high school in the Benjamin Logan Local School District. The high school had an enrollment of 496 students during the 2018-19 school year, and is classified as a Division V program by the OHSAA.
Based on its enrollment, the Raiders are the equivalent of a Class 2A school under IHSAA classifications.
The Raiders are a member of the Mad River division of the Central Buckeye Conference. They ended the regular season with a 2-4 record.
They lost back-to-back games — against London (28-13) in a non-conference tilt, then 33-32 to Graham Local a week later — to start the year. The Raiders topped Urbana 35-0, lost to Indian Lake (20-14) and defeated Springfield Northwestern (47-14) before a loss to North Union (42-7) in the regular-season finale.
In the first game of OHSAA’s all-inclusive playoffs, the Raiders, who were seeded 15th out of 25 teams in Region 18, lost to No. 18 seed Marion Pleasant 35-13.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools, and the first time the Patriots have played in the Buckeye State since meeting the Greenville Green Wave in 2010 and 2008, both of which were JCHS losses.
