Less than 30 hours before kickoff, the Patriots need an opponent for Friday.
The Jay County football game scheduled for Friday at Benjamin Logan (Bellefontaine, Ohio) has been canceled because of "new travel restrictions for Ohio residents," according to JCHS athletics director Steve Boozier.
The game was announced Monday afternoon, five days after Jay County learned its game for Friday against the Heritage Patriots was to be canceled because Heritage had to quarantine because of the coronavirus.
As of this afternoon, Boozier said there is a long shot an opponent for Friday will be scheduled.
If that is the case, Jay County will end the regular season 0-8, the first winless season in program history.
Jay County is set to open the Class 4A Sectional 20 tournament at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 on the road against former rival Delta Eagles.
