DAV responds to Dem criticism

To the editor:

In response to Jay County Democrats’ opposition of the planned:

First, they stated the opposed parade is in support of the president. The flyer didn’t state this to be a parade, but did state support your president.

It also stated support for your country, your Constitution, your military and your police, fire and first responders. They took one phrase from the flyer to make it about one thing.

Second, as a past member of the military of this great country, we swore an oath to defend and support the United States of America. This includes the president of the United States, as he is the commander-in-chief. This doesn’t matter as to his politcal affiliation, Democrat or Republican.

Third, as for the Dems to oppose this event of unity and support for the community and our country is a conflict of what I and others have served, fought and died to protect, which is the reason we have the freedoms we now enjoy.
