Craft event set for Nov. 6

The community center is getting crafty.

Jay Community Center will host a wine and craft night at 6 p.m. Nov. 6.

Participants will receive craft supplies, two glasses of wine and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $35, or $30 for senior citizens.

Registration is required by visiting the community center, 115 E. Water St., Portland. The deadline is Oct. 30.

New director named

Indiana State Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that Sam Miller has been named as the new Indiana FFA director.

Miller previously served as assistant director for nearly three years. She was previously an FFA advisor and agriculture education teacher for Hamilton Southeastern Schools.

She will oversee the Indiana FFA Pavilion at the Indiana State Fair, lead the Indiana FFA Association board and help with leadership training for state officers.
