Vehicle rolled
A Portland man was transported to IU Health Jay for a head injury after he rolled his vehicle off county road 200 South and into a yard at 4:06 p.m. Thursday.
Kamron W. Petty, 24, was westbound on the county road when his vehicle went off the north side of the road and rolled multiple times before it came to a yard at 3648 E. 200 South.
Petty was driving a 2005 Chevy Aveo registered to Dawn A. Imel, Portland. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Deer hit
Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000 after an Ohio man was unable to avoid driving into a deer with his semi at the intersection of Indiana 26 and county road 700 East at 3:10 a.m. this morning.
Michael R. Burke, 40, Ansonia, Ohio, was westbound on the highway when a deer ran in front of a 2016 International ProStar he was driving. That semi is registered to Cheeseman LLC, Greencastle.
Intersection collision
A Portland woman was transported to IU Health Jay for back pain after she was involved in an accident with a semi at the intersection of U.S. 27 and county road 650 South at 2:54 p.m. Wednesday.
Lance K. Daniels, 21, Tiffin, Ohio, caused the accident after he failed to stop at the intersection while eastbound on county road 650 South in his 2012 Kenworth T660, according to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
Reanna E. Myers, 18, had the right of way and drove into the driver side of Daniels’ semi-trailer while southbound on the highway in a 2006 Nissan Murano.
The semi is registered to Kalmbach Trucking Inc., Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and the Nissan is registered to Ryan E. Myers, Portland.
Damage was estimated between $25,000 and $50,000.
Recycling available
Jay County Solid Waste Management District will have recycling trailers available from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday across from Pennville Fire Station and 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot at 220 Lincoln St., Portland.
