The Patriot offense spread the wealth in getting back into the win column.
Four players scored goals, and two of them added an assist, as the Jay County High School girls soccer team defeated the Wapahani Raiders on Saturday, 4-1.
Gabi Bilbrey notched her team-leading eighth goal of the season as Jay County (6-7-1) and Wapahani (7-5) were tied 1-1 at intermission. The Patriots, who had lost their previous two games, scored three times in the second half to get the win.
Mara Bader notched her seventh goal of the year, sister Eliza Bader scored her fifth mark and Molly Muhlenkamp netted her second tally.
Grace Shimp, Eliza Bader and Bilbrey all had assists.
Tricia Ison and Angel Clairday each made a save as goalkeeper for Jay County, which hosts the Blackford Bruins at 5 p.m. tonight.
Big 2nd carries Jay
WOODBURN — A 27-point second quarter carried the Jay County junior varsity football team to a 48-6 victory Monday against the host Woodlan Warriors.
Christian Runkle and Trey Nichols each had two rushing touchdowns. Runkle totaled 133 yards on six carries, while Nichols covered 84 yards on 11 touches. Sean Carpenter and Parker Nichols also had rushing scores.
Justin DeHoff led the defense with five tackles, one tackle for loss and a fumble recover. Trey Nichols picked off a pass, while Tayden McDowell and Carpenter each had a sack.
The Patriots improved to 2-4 with the win, and they travel to South Adams at 6 p.m. Monday.
