Tourney draws released Monday
Tennis, boys and girls soccer teams learn of postseason path
INDIANAPOLIS — Three Patriot squads learned of their respective postseason path.
The IHSAA held its sectional tournament draws for boys tennis, girls soccer and boys soccer on Monday.
The Jay County High School boys tennis team, which hosts the Sectional 43 tournament beginning Wednesday, received a semifinal matchup against the Randolph Southern Rebels. The Patriots defeated Randolph Southern 3-2 during the regular season.
The other semifinal pits the Union City Indians against two-time defending sectional champion Winchester Golden Falcons.
Jay County is favored to win its first sectional title since 2014 as it beat all three sectional rivals during the regular season.
The semifinals will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, with the final slated for 5 p.m. Thursday.
Jay County’s boys soccer team (5-6) opens Class 2A Sectional 24 play at Eastbrook in the second day of quarterfinal matches. The Patriots meet the Blackford Bruins (2-2-1) at 7 p.m. Oct. 6.
The first game of the tournament pits the Eastbrook Panthers (13-1-1), which finished 14th in the most recent Indiana Soccer Coaches Association poll, against the No. 13 Yorktown Tigers (10-2) at 6 p.m. Oct. 5.
The winner advances to play the Delta Eagles (8-4) in the semifinal at 5 p.m. Oct. 7.
The Muncie Burris Owls (9-3) and defending champion New Castle Trojans (3-10) square off at 5 p.m. Oct. 6. The winner moves on to the semifinal against either Jay County or Blackford at 7 p.m. Oct. 7.
Semifinal winners advance to the championship game at 7 p.m. Oct. 10.
