Ohio man arrested for molestation
An Ohio man is in custody for child molesting.
Paul E. Barnett, 68, Greenville, was arrested Wednesday on a Level 1 felony charge of molesting a child and is being held in Jay County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Jay County Sheriff’s Office investigator Tony Lennartz, who worked on the case, said the alleged crime happened in 2016 at Paradise Pointe RV Resort in rural Portland. Barnett allegedly molested a 9-year-old girl at the campground, he said.
Anyone who performs or submits to sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct with a child younger than 14 in the state of Indiana commits child molesting, a Level 3 felony.
The charge becomes a Level 1 felony when it is committed by someone 21 or older.
