Trailer trouble
A Muncie man’s trailer lost its balance and shifted off Indiana 1 about 8:35 a.m. Thursday.
Larry A. Mitchell, 69, Muncie, was driving north on the highway near county road 300 South. He later told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he had cattle in his trailer. He said as his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado crested a hill, the cattle shifted their weight, causing his vehicle to go off the road.
Mitchell’s trailer was towed, with damage estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Abandoned vehicle
An unknown person drove a vehicle into the ditch on Mount Pleasant Road and fled the scene about 10:26 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver of a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado was driving southwest on the road and approaching the intersection with county road 200 West. The Silverado then continued off the east side of the road and into the ditch. Two witnesses –– Jennifer and Lee VanSkyock –– later told Jay County Sheriff’s Office they watched the driver, whose identity remains unknown, exit the vehicle and run southwest on Mount Pleasant Road.
The vehicle was towed, with damage estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
