To the editor:
I had to laugh when I read that PBS was the only news Jerry Eglan trusted.
Apparently they totally failed him on the Jan. 6 mostly peaceful protest at the Capitol. He cites a “terrorist mob attempting to tear down our Capitol building.” Breaking a few windows hardly qualifies as “tearing down.”
I doubt if he is aware that many of the Capitol police he said should have “spent every shell" were actually moving barricades to let the protesters in. He probably also missed the account that 450 protesters were tracked down and charged with trespassing and not violence or terrorism.
One unarmed woman was shot, but Mr. Eglan would have emptied his gun. That would make him more violent than any of the protesters.
Based on videos that I have seen, the summer siege of the White House by peaceful rock throwing looters and arsonists was much more violent.
And did PBS mention that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi turned down 10,000 national guard troops offered by President Donald Trump for that day?
