Obituary
Neil A. Kegerreis, 67, of Pennville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 17, 2021, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
He was born Aug. 10, 1954, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Herbert Eugene and Joanna C. (Matlien) Kegerreis. On Sept. 13, 1980, Neil married Wauneta A. “Otis” Weldy in Pennville, Indiana.
Neil was a graduate of Blackford High School in 1972 and studied diesel technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was the co-owner of G & N Construction for the past 12 years. He was previously the service manager for Koester’s Body & Frame Shop in Fort Wayne, Muncie Truck Center and Stoops Freightliner in Anderson for the past 30-plus years.
He was a member of I.O.O.F. #145 in Pennville.
Neil never met a stranger and would always do anything for anyone. He was beyond proud of his sons and absolutely adored his grandkids. A simple hard-working, loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Wauneta “Otis” Kegerreis of Pennville; two sons, Nathaniel A. (Debra) Kegerreis of Pennville and Phillip A. (Tammi) Kegerreis of Indianapolis; three sisters, Cindy Welch of Pennville, Gena (Jesse) James of Bryant and Lisa (Randy) Tinch of Portland; and brother-in-law, Larry Maddox of Hartford City. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Matthew Price, Gerald Bromagem IV, Kristen Bromagem, Danielle Bromagem, Isaiah Kegerreis, Paighton Bromagem, Riley Kegerreis, Payton Kegerreis, Quinn Kegerreis and Kenna Kegerreis.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Martha Maddox and JoEllen and Ronnie Petty.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Bob Graham officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville.
Family and friends will be received from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home
Preferred memorials are to the family.
