Aubree McClure topped the pygmy goat show again. Bretton Basford followed in his sister’s footsteps.
They were among the list of grand champion winners July 13 during the Jay County 4-H pygmy goat and meat goat shows at Jay County Fairgrounds.
McClure repeated, showing the grand champion pygmy goat again. She had the top wether and mother/daughter pair, and took the top spot in intermediate showmanship.
Basford two grand champions in the meat goat show, winning for both boer doe and buck. His sister, Eden, had the grand champions for meat doe, meat mother and daughter, meat buck and market doe in 2018, buck and boer doe in 2019, and doe in 2020. Bretton also had the champion junior doe, champion yearling doe, champion senior doe, champion mother/daughter and reserve champion doe this year. He won the advanced showmanship title as well.
Wyatt Twigg teamed up with his brother Austin to sweep the market doe category. Wyatt showed the grand champion, while Austin had the reserve grand champion. Wyatt also showed the champion medium market doe.
And Courtney Benter showed the grand champion wether while also winning for senior showmanship.
Additional showmanship wins went to Finn Hemmelgarn (beginner) and Melana Zimmerman (senior) for pygmy goats, and Emalynn Clark (beginner), Frederick Lingo (junior) and Cayden Buckland (intermediate) for meat goats.
