Combine fire
A combine driving in a field at the intersection of county road 400 South and Como Road caught on fire about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
John Osterholt was driving a combine on the field when the fire started, according to Portland firefighter Chad Aker. The fire also caught onto surrounding corn stubble. Portland Fire Department arrived with seven fire fighters and three trucks, putting out the fire in about 25 minutes.
Deer hit
An animal ran in front of a Union City woman’s vehicle about 6:55 a.m. Thursday, causing a collision.
Angela D. Clevenger, 41, was driving north on county road 700 East near county road 550 South when a deer ran in front of her 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. She wasn’t able to avoid the collision, causing between $2,500 and $5,000 in damage estimated.
