A Redkey woman died Wednesday morning around the same time her house caught on fire.
The cause of her death is still under investigation.
Karla Ruble was found dead by her son, Cyler, about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday. Local emergency personnel responded to the call at 328 E. Grandview Ave., where Ruble’s body was found lying in a hospital bed in the living room. There were burn marks on her body.
Redkey Fire Department put out a small fire in the living room floor. Randy Young, chief of the fire department, estimated the fire started sometime between midnight and 6 a.m.
Ruble used supplemental oxygen.
Redkey’s police and fire departments, Jay County Sheriff’s Office, Jay County Emergency Medical Service, Jay County Coroner’s Office and the Indiana State Fire Marshal responded to the scene.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing and an autopsy is scheduled.
