Slow down, be cautious

Slow down, be cautious
Slow down, be cautious

To the editor:

My son calls me a dinosaur because while it seems everyone is in a hurry, I would rather take my time.

A close call with the virus slowed me down.

On Tuesday, a few minutes after 5 p.m., I was driving out of town to attend an event in Fort Recovery. Kids from Portland Water Park were coming from Hayes Street to Main Street. Two boys on bicycles were approaching when one began to cross without looking. Despite being tailgated by an impatient driver, I was able to avoid hitting the boy. Thank God.

As I continued my journey to Fort Recovery, the impatient driver resumed tailgating. As he passed me, he flipped me the bird.

We must drive with caution and watch out for children. Young people can be easily distracted, especially when among friends. I would have been devastated if I had hit that boy.
